Mrs. Taylor Nails Biography

A native of Auburn, Alabama, Taylor Nails attended Auburn University where she received both
her Master of Education in Music Education and Bachelor of Music Education. While pursuing
her bachelor’s degree, she served as piccolo section leader of the AU Marching Band, principal
flute of the AU Symphonic Winds, and was a founding member of Sigma Alpha Iota. As a
Graduate Assistant with the Auburn University Bands, Mrs. Nails served as Coordinator for
Summer Band Camps and AU Middle School Honor Band as well as sat principal flute of the
AU Symphonic Winds.
Mrs. Nails is currently in her first year as Band Director at Ringgold Middle School in Ringgold,
Georgia. Under her leadership, students actively participate in esteemed musical events such as
the District Jazz Honor Band, District 7 Honor Band, Georgia All-State, and Solo and Ensemble
competitions.
Prior to her tenure at Ringgold Middle School, Mrs. Nails served as Band Director at North
Laurel Middle School in London, KY where her bands received distinguished ratings at KMEA
State Assessment. Her students were accepted and performed at high levels in several different
honor bands.
During her 12 years of teaching middle school band in Alabama, her bands consistently received
superior ratings at the Alabama Music Performance Assessment. Her students attended and
achieved high success at numerous honor bands, All-State, Solo and Ensemble events, and
summer music camps.
She has served as a clinician at the GMEA District 6 Honor Band, Auburn University Honor
Band, Samford University Honor Band, University of Alabama Crimson Music Camp, and
Auburn University Summer Band Camp. Mrs. Nails is a member of NAfME, GMEA, NBA,
Sigma Alpha Iota, Kappa Delta Pi, Kappa Kappa Psi – honorary, and serves as the Secretary for
the Auburn University Alumni Band. She stays as active as possible playing and teaching flute.
She and her husband, Heath, have two young children: Elizabeth and Ellis.
