Mrs. Taylor Nails Biography

Taylor Nails grew up in Auburn, AL. She attended Auburn University where she received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Instrumental Music Education.  While pursuing her bachelor’s degree she served as Piccolo Section Leader of the AU Marching Band, Principal Flute of the AU Symphonic Winds, and a founding member of Sigma Alpha Iota.  In graduate school, Mrs. Nails served as a Graduate Assistant with the Auburn University Bands, Coordinator for Summer Band Camps and AU Middle School Honor Band, and Principal Flute of the AU Symphonic Winds.  She taught middle school band in Alabama for 12 years where her bands consistently received superior ratings at Alabama Performance Assessment, and she had many students attend and achieve high success at numerous honor bands, solo and ensemble events, and summer camps.   For the past two years, she has been living in Kentucky where she taught middle school band to students in London, KY.  Her bands there received Distinguished ratings at KMEA State Assessment and students were accepted and performed at high levels in several different honor bands.

 

Mrs. Nails is a member of NAfME, GMEA, NBA, Alabama Winds, Sigma Alpha Iota, Kappa Delta Pi, Kappa Kappa Psi – honorary, and serves as the Secretary for the Auburn University Alumni Band. She stays as active as possible playing and teaching flute.  She and her husband, Heath, have two young children, Elizabeth and Ellis.
